Here are their stories....
On April 11th, 2011 I came across an ad on craigslist about a man selling nine 1 week old puppies. I called him and asked him how much they were and, he said they were $80.00 each... by complete surprise I explain to the man that they were too young to be away from momma and asked why he had to rehome them? He simply said " she won't feed them anymore". I asked the man if he could lower the price of the puppies so I could (rescue) take more than one? He said "I will go down to $50.00 each". That again was way to much considering the formula, food later on, puppy pads, making sure they had all their shots, and were fixed before going to their new forever homes. So, I explained this to the man and after a few hours of discussing this with him he let 5 of them go for $80.00. Which I was fine with.
I got his address and headed to his home. I arrived 45-50mins to avra valley and was approached by a few (at least 5-6) other dogs one of which was the mother dog. They aloud my husband and I to enter their trailer which was in no means fit for any animals nor children to live in at all. As we stood in the living room we asked a few basic questions like, "does the mother dog have all her shots?", "what were you feeding the puppies after momma stopped feeding them?", "when did she stop feeding them?", "how many puppies were there originally?". They were kind and answered the questions (in order) "no the mother doesn't have all her shots, we were going to get them done", "we were feeding the puppies (cows) milk from a bottle", "she stopped feeding them two or so days ago", "there was a total of 11 puppies, two had died, we assumed they were runts". After the nice younger lady brought the puppies in from the bedroom and placed them out on the couch I tried to choose the ones that looked more in need of saving (the weaker ones) I chose 5 little girls, Not knowing their sex at that point in time. (It was the hardest thing I have ever done, Not knowing if the others were going to get rescued!) I chose the five and said my goodbyes took some pictures of their living condition and left. We named them Snickers', Moo-Moo, Tucker, Bear, & Miss T-Bone My husband & I raised them, got them all vaccines, all spayed, and they left to their forever homes being 100% potty trained & crate trained. We still keep in contact with their pet parents :) It was a cold rainy day on Nov. 27th, 2011 when we were adopted my a lovely stray female cat that we named Cleo.. I had been feeding her because, she was pregnant... in hopes that she actually had a home I didn't let her in until she was once again at my back door when it was raining. We later on discovered that her original family moved away and left her behind. Saddened by this my husband & I took her into our home fed & took care of her so she had a safe place to have her babies. On December 2nd, 2011 Cleo had four beautiful kitten. All healthy!! :) She was a great momma kitty and taught them everything they needed to know. We named Them Mr. Wong, Cricket, Socrates, & Biggy. They all found loving forever homes! |
On March 5th, 2012 we took in a pregnant dog from the PACC (Rescued from "In the arms of the Angels" rescue group).
We named her Misty. Amanda said "she should be having them in a day or two" and, sure enough March 6th, 2012 at 11:37pm she had her first puppy and we named him "Jersey", at 12:47am she had her second puppy and we named her "Isis", at 1:40am she had her third puppy and we named him "Squirrel", at 2:08am she had her fourth puppy and we named him Kysar", & at 2:31am she had her fifth puppy and we named her "Akasha". Her labor went smooth but,.... two days later we lost baby "Squirrel"... :( We know that there are good times and rough times when rescuing and foster animals. They aren't always healthy but, I will work my hardest to get them to be healthy and adopt them out to loving homes. Every animal that enters my home gets treated and is loved like my own. On March 16th, 2012 we received a rescue kiity that delivered 5 beautiful babies on March 20th, 2012 Sweet Pea delivered 2 little girls named Tulip & Lily & 3 little boys named Dewey, Stewie, & Louie .. All healthy. Sweet Pea is doing so great nursing & taking care of them all!! :) Updates will be coming soon as well as pictures. On March 30th, 2012 we received a pregnant rescue named Cara from A.O.A. She came with 3 precious little pups named Piper, Piglet & Pee Wee. On May 1st, 2012 we rescued 5 four week old kittens. Their names are Slash, Jasmine, Star, Jax & Eclipse. They were all healthy just had NO mother. We bottle fed them until they came of age and they took fairly easy to weaning and litter box training. |
